The Gauze Crinkle Table Runner

What it is

The Gauze Crinkle Table Runner is a long, narrow cloth that lays down the center of a table. The fabric is 100% polyester gauze with a semi-sheer crinkled weave. Light passes through it, so the table surface stays part of the look. The crinkle is built into the weave, which gives the runner a relaxed texture without pressing or starching.

A runner is the easy layer. It adds color and texture to a table without covering the whole top, so wood grain, a plain cloth or a bare table still shows on either side. This one suits everyday dinners, holiday settings and party tables alike.

Size

One size is stocked. Custom sizes are available if you need a different length or width.

Measure your table before you order. A 108 in (275 cm) runner leaves roughly 8 in (20 cm) of overhang at each end on a 92 in (234 cm) table. On a shorter table, the ends drape further down the sides. On a longer table, the runner sits closer to the tabletop edge to edge.

Width matters too. At 16 in (40 cm), the runner covers the center of the table and leaves room for place settings on both sides.

Colors

Nine colors are available:

The range runs from quiet neutrals to deeper tones. Beige and cream blend into most table settings. Sage, dusty blue and dark green lean cool. Rouge, rust and purple bring warmer color. Blue sits in the middle. Because the gauze is semi-sheer, each color reads a little lighter on the table than it does in the swatch.

Color may vary slightly by batch. If you order two runners in the same color at different times, expect a close match rather than an exact one.

How to use it

Lay the runner down the center of the table and let the ends fall where they fall. The crinkled weave holds soft folds, so you can bunch it slightly for a looser look or smooth it flat for a cleaner line.

A few ways to use it:

• Down the center of a dining table with plates on either side.
• Layered over a plain tablecloth for extra texture.
• Along a sideboard, console or buffet for serving dishes.
• On a round table, where the ends can drape past the curve.
• For holiday tables, pair a deep color with simple dishware and let the gauze carry the setting.

Because the fabric is semi-sheer, a dark table will make the color look deeper and a light table will make it look softer. Try it on your own table before a big gathering so you know how the color reads in your room.

Care

Machine wash cold. Hang dry. Use a low iron if needed.

The crinkled texture is part of the weave, so you do not need to press the runner flat. If you do iron it, keep the setting low and work gently. Hang drying keeps the shape and the drape. Fold or roll the runner for storage rather than packing it tight.
