The Pure Linen Tablecloth

What it is

This is a rectangular tablecloth made from 100% linen. The fabric is woven and has a matte finish, so it catches light softly rather than shining. Linen has a natural texture and a relaxed look that suits both casual meals and set tables.

The cloth is solid color with a plain weave. It is handmade, and custom sizes are available if you need a fit that is not on the list.

Sizes

The tablecloth comes in ten rectangular sizes. Pick the one that gives you a comfortable overhang on your table.

A good rule is to add 8 to 12 in (20 to 30 cm) of drop on each side of the table. For a formal look, go longer. For a casual look, keep the drop shorter.

Colors

There are 16 solid colors: Linen, Light gray, Sage green, Turmeric, Dark gray, Ivory, Orange red, Moss green, Gray pink, White, Terracotta, Light apricot, Green, Lake blue, Black and Grayish purple.

Neutrals like Linen, Ivory, White and Light gray work for daily use and blend with most dinnerware. Sage green, Moss green and Lake blue bring a calm tone to the table. Turmeric, Orange red and Terracotta add warmth for fall and winter meals. Dark gray, Black and Grayish purple give a deeper, more formal look.

How to use it

Spread the cloth flat and smooth it with your hands. Linen softens with each wash and becomes easier to lay out over time.

Use it for kitchen dining, holiday meals, parties and outdoor tables. It works over wood, glass and stone surfaces. For a layered table, pair it with a runner or placemats in a matching or contrasting color.

Wrinkles are natural to linen. If you prefer a crisper look, press the cloth on low heat before setting the table. If you like the relaxed linen look, let it be.

Care

Machine wash cold. Hang dry. Iron on low if needed.

Wash separately from heavy items with zippers or hooks. Avoid bleach and fabric softener. Hang the cloth straight from the wash to reduce creasing, and fold it loosely for storage.

Linen is a natural fiber, so small variations in weave and shade are part of the fabric. The matte surface hides everyday marks better than a glossy cloth.
