The Floral Weave Placemat

What this placemat is

This is a single table mat made from 100% polyester in a matte weave. The surface has a soft, low-sheen finish that keeps the floral print readable without glare under overhead lights. It works as a dinner mat, a dessert mat or a base for a centerpiece.

The matte weave also means the placemat holds its shape on the table. It does not slide around like a thin paper mat, and it does not need a charger plate to look finished.

Size and shape

One size, one shape. The rectangle is sized for standard dinner plates with room for a glass and flatware.

This size suits most dining tables, kitchen islands and cafe-style setups. On a narrow bistro table, one mat per setting fits with room to spare. On a larger table, you can space them evenly and still leave room for serving dishes in the middle.

Colors and patterns

There are 16 options, grouped into three families.

Floral: Light blue floral, Khaki floral, Pink floral, White floral, Dark brown floral.

Houndstooth: White houndstooth, Pink houndstooth, Beige houndstooth, Brown houndstooth, Light blue houndstooth.

Hearts and solids: Black heart, Light green heart, Pale pink heart, White heart, Beige heart, Burgundy, White.

If you are setting a Christmas table, the burgundy and the light green heart read festive without being literal. For spring and Easter, the light blue floral and pale pink heart are quiet and bright. For everyday use, the houndstooth and solid white are the easiest to mix with existing dinnerware.

Because each mat is sold on its own, you can order a mixed set. Pair a floral with a houndstooth at each setting, or keep one pattern across the whole table.

How to use it

Place one mat at each seat, with the long edge running parallel to the table edge. Center the plate on the mat and set flatware to the sides. A folded napkin on top or beside the plate finishes the setting.

These mats also work beyond the dining room. Use one under a lamp or a small plant on a console, under a laptop on a desk, or as a landing spot for keys and a bowl by the door. The matte weave keeps small items from scratching the surface underneath.

For afternoon tea or dessert, the size leaves room for a cup, a small plate and a spoon without crowding. For a cafe table, one mat per seat is usually enough.

Care

Machine wash cold. Hang dry. Low iron if needed.

Wash with similar colors, especially the deeper tones like burgundy and dark brown floral. Do not bleach. Hang dry flat or over a line, then smooth by hand before storing. If the mat has been folded in a drawer, a low iron on the reverse side takes the creases out.

Building a set

Start with the color you need most, then add one or two more over time. A common approach is four mats in one pattern for the family table, plus two in a contrasting pattern for guests. Since the mats are sold individually, you are not locked into a fixed pack size.
