The Green Gingham Tablecloth

A gentle green check

Green gingham is the easy way to bring the garden to the table. This one is a soft, muted green checked with cream, finished with a tassel trim that gives the edges weight. It works for a relaxed Thanksgiving with roast vegetables and herbs, a Friendsgiving on the porch, and every Sunday lunch after that.

The fabric is a polyester-cotton blend: soft enough to feel like a proper tablecloth, and easy to wash and dry between meals.

Choosing your size

All five sizes are 55 in (140 cm) wide, which suits dining tables 34 to 38 in (86 to 97 cm) wide. Add twice your drop to the table length and pick the nearest size.

Pairing it with fall colors

Green and orange sit opposite each other on the color wheel, so pumpkins, clementines and copper look especially bright on this check. Cream plates, wooden boards and linen napkins in oat or rust keep it relaxed. For a second table, the Brown Gingham Tablecloth has a similar small check in cocoa brown.

Setting the table

Gingham shows when a cloth sits crooked, so line the checks up with the long edge of the table first and smooth the cloth out from the middle toward the ends. If folds from the package still show, a few minutes with a steamer, or a warm iron on the back, takes them out. A plain runner down the middle in oat or rust adds a second layer without fighting the check.

Care

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang to dry. Smooth the tassels with your fingers while damp, and iron on low from the back if needed. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
